The objective of this course is to work on a diverse choro repertoire,
including not only different rhythms from the choro
universe - such as polka, maxixe, waltz, schottisch - but also
different historical periods. The works are by important composers,
either in original arrangements or adapted for band.
Prerequisites
Good technique on the instrument; reading musical notation.
Students must bring
Music stand, pencil and instrument.
Regional

"Regional" groups, either already existing or created during
the festival, will work on a repertoire chosen with the help
of the teachers above, who will accompany the rehearsals.
Prerequisites
Reading chord symbols. Reading music notation for solo
instruments is desirable, but not necessary.
Students must bring
Music stand and instrument.
Chamber Music Practice
Marcilio Lopes,
Naomi Kumamoto and
Paulo Aragão
A practice dedicated to string instruments
(guitar, cavaquinho, mandolin) but also woodwinds
(specially flute and clarinet), accordion and percussion.
Students will form a small chamber orchestra to play a
specific repertoire.
Prerequisites
Good technique on the instrument, fluent reading
of chord symbols and music notation.
Students must bring
Music stand and instrument.
Samba-Choro Singing Practice
Amelia Rabello
In this practice, students will have the opportunity to
expand on what was learned in the samba-choro singing
workshop, with the accompaniment of a regional group.
Prerequisites
Previous experience as a singer; enrollment in
the samba-choro singing workshop.
Samba-Choro Choir Practice
Paulo Malaguti
This practice will explore a small repertoire that represents
the vocal tradition in Brazilian music (focusing specially samba and choro),
either for a large vocal group or for small ensembles.
Prerequisites
Previous experience as singer; enrollment in the
samba-choro choir workshop.
